Convention Lead Up!
2017 marks the year that City of Richmond will once again host for the British Columbia and Yukon Knights of Columbus 106th State AGM and Convention, an annual event that brings together more than 350 delegates of the Knights of Columbus Order from the various local councils throughout the jurisdiction including spouses from all over BC and Yukon to participate in business sessions, as well as social functions commencing with a Divine Liturgy, followed by the Opening Ceremony by State Deputy Arcie Jose Lim.

The Knights of Columbus BC and Yukon Convention consists of 2 delegates from each of the 136 councils. Additionally, 25 State Officers, Directors and Chairmen, 29 District Deputies, Past State Deputies, Bishops and Clergy completes the list of the Delegates for the British Columbia and Yukon 106th Annual State AGM and Convention.

The State AGM and Convention will be held in a Convention Center which accommodates over 600 people at one seating, at a centrally located Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond, British Columbia starting Friday April 28 to Sunday April 30, 2017.

For more than 100 years, the British Columbia and Yukon State Annual General Meeting and Convention has been convened not only to conduct the business of the State Council, which is one of the 74 State Councils within the Order worldwide, having oversight of all local Councils, but also to foster better working relationships between the local Councils and Assemblies within BC and Yukon.

With a Planning Committee Task force of 7 Chairpersons headed by State Convention Chairman Edgar Ursua, preparations are in full swing endeavoring to make this 3 day Convention an enjoyable and noteworthy event.

One of the highlights of the business session is the Election of the new set of State Officers. Saturday’s State Deputy’s Banquet will showcase local councils and members of the Knights with recognition for outstanding service and accomplishments from the preceding year.

The Liturgical Mass which is the central focus of each day of the Convention will have a homily that will center on the theme of this year’s convention, .

The Organizing Committee is planning to publish a Convention Magazine, a commemorative book that would promote the various service programs and activities of the Knights of Columbus in the entire jurisdiction. Copies of the convention magazine will be provided to each convention delegate for keepsake and to share with his Council and/or Assembly members.

The 106th State AGM and Convention is anticipated to be a very rewarding experience for all participating delegates of the various councils of British Columbia and Yukon.
